Walled Garden Springfield

We all spent a week out on work placements just before the mid-term break. Some of us stayed in the local area working with Johnathan Sykes in Springfield, some went to Brown Envelope Seeds in Cork, some to Seedsavers in Scariff and all around the countryside learning different aspects of organics. I spent a week with Emer O’Flaherty in Springfield walled garden, working in organic salad and fruit production. Emer runs a lovely garden and supplies some of the top restaurants in Cork and Limerick with her delicious leaves and vegetables.

Many sleepy heads sat in the college kitchen at our Monday meeting today, the enthusiasm in the air was palpable. Jim pointed out that November is naturally a chillier month and therefore a good time for us to put our heads down and get to work on various projects and research. This is my first post as college blogger so it’s short and sleepy too.

Monday mornings are a good time to let me know of happenings, events and college news and I will post them to the blog. Also if anybody in the college has photos they want to post, then they can e-mail them to me at [email protected]. I’m learning this new media myself so there will be burps and hiccups so patience please.

Back to school today
